Alicia Holbrook is moving into our high school counselor position this year. She has a B.S. in psychology from UT Chattanooga and will complete her M.Ed. in school counseling this year from UT Martin. Alicia has been a middle school receptionist at Ivy since August, 2018 while working on her M.Ed.Prior to Ivy, she worked in human resources and disability insurance, however she took time away from her career to raise her children and educate them at home. She has also served as a Stephen Minister and was active in both Children’s and Youth Ministry.

She loves helping others and making personal connections with everyone she meets. She believes that everyone deserves to be heard. Some of her favorite quotes that have inspired her along her path are as follows: “If you judge people, you have no time to love them.” - Mother Teresa; “Be curious, not judgmental.” - Walt Whitman;  “Be truthful, gentle, and fearless.”- Gandhi; and “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” - E.E. Cummings.

The Holbrook family initially chose Ivy for their oldest son. After seeing him flourish and find “his people”, Alicia became an active parent volunteer during his 7th grade year. The volunteer position turned into a job opportunity and the rest is history! She says, “I enjoy being in reception because I love making connections with students as they come in and witnessing all the amazing learning taking place throughout the day.”

Alicia enjoys spending time with her family. She and Mr. Holbrook have been married for 18 years and have three wonderful children - Harrison, Kadie, and Sam. In her free time she enjoys writing, crocheting, crafting, going to concerts and music festivals, and traveling. The Holbrook family especially loves a good road trip in their camper.
