Food As A Verb x Rooster Project
Respect the Full Circle: a Story of Roosters, Knives and Realization
The Rooster Project at Ivy Academy was far more than a logistical task; it was a profound learning experience aimed at connecting students directly with the fundamental role of agriculture in our world. We invite you to read the detailed article by Food As A Verb to explore the full story.
Below, Ivy Academy teacher Amber Gordon shares her deep passion for the project and why this direct, real-world connection to the earth and living creatures is so vital to our students' understanding of civilization itself: “I genuinely had no idea how beautiful of a story they (Food As A Verb) would write. I'd love for you all to take the time to read through this article, if you wish, to get a better understanding of why this project was so important to me and the team that I work so closely with at school. While at first it may seem like it was merely a convenient way to take care of an overpopulation of roosters and ultimately have less beaks to feed- I'm deeply passionate about connecting our students with agriculture in a truly real way. While there were various opinions about this process, I hope we all are able to see the power in a connection to our earth, the living creatures there, and how we (as a society) flourish ONLY because of agriculture. It truly is the reason for nearly all of civilization.
